General Information

All Form 8 jobs are conditional. Hourly-paid employees work only when there is work to be done, according to the needs of Management. This depends on the flow of cargo at the Port Authority and cargo handling needs. In accepting conditional employment with the Alabama State Port Authority, one agrees to abide by all the rules and regulations of the Port Authority, including all rules of Safety and Security. Employees must conduct themselves in a courteous and cooperative manner. Each employee is under obligation to be fully acquainted with the work rules applicable to the job. Your application for employment shall be considered active until the position applied for is filled or a maximum of 30 days, whichever comes first. A physical examination including drug screening is required for all new employees, and for other employees as management deems necessary. A background investigation is required for all new employees.

I understand that, except by written agreement signed by the Director of the Alabama State Port Authority, no manager, supervisor, employee or other Port Authority representative has any authority to promise employment for a particular length of time, or to make any other promises or representations about my future employment with the Port Authority.
