Danny Barnett
Vice President of Human Resources
Daniel “Danny” Barnett is the Alabama Port Authority’s Vice President of Human Resources. Danny has worked for the port since June 1975, when he began his career in the maintenance department.
Danny served in the Alabama Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq before retiring in February 2007 at the rank of Major. As VP of HR, he is responsible for personnel policies, benefits programs, and safety programs. He also assists with collective bargaining and labor negotiations and is a trustee for the port’s retirement funds. Before stepping into the VP role, Danny worked across the port in a variety of business areas, including General Cargo and McDuffie Coal Terminal operations. He was also a manager in Central Billing. In these roles, his work included assisting IT with the design, testing and implementation of the ORACLE billing program and approving rail permit requests from coal shippers. Danny has a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Management through a joint ARNG from Faulkner University.
